Schnarr's employee Carolyn HasenfratzCarolyn Hasenfratz Winkelmann

Carolyn was raised in a DIY household. From an early age she was encouraged to try everything from baking to soldering. These days she enjoys paper crafts, mixed media crafts, sewing, ceramics, mosaics, gardening, making things out of wood, home decor projects and upcycling found items into usable and decorative objects.

In the past Carolyn has worked in the retail, web design, and marketing fields. She now works part time at the Schnarr’s Ladue store as a cashier, helps with marketing efforts, writes her own blog and craft tutorials, and teaches craft classes while working on a Master’s Degree at Webster University. Carolyn’s father introduced her to hardware stores, his tools, and the “stuff stash” that every DIYer collects. It’s no surprise that time spent at Schnarr’s makes her giddy in the presence of things you can use to create! She still loves working on projects with her Dad and it’s a treat to make a joint trip to the hardware store!

Carolyn is a certified St. Louis and Missouri Master Gardener. She contributes articles to the “Garden Notes from Schnarr’s” newsletter and to the Schnarr’s Blog. Carolyn is excited for the opportunity to help Schnarr’s customers enrich their lives with creative and fun projects. She wants as many people as possible to experience the joy that DIY projects have brought to her life.

Tim Wittmaier

In Tim’s own words:
“I am a third generation gardener, landscaper and also a certified horticulturalist. My family business started in 1948 as Wittmaier Bros. In the 1960s and ’70s we were one of the largest companies in the county. As a teenager I took various design courses, and when I was 18 years old, I drew a landscape design for a new office building at Anheuser-Busch Brewery. We worked at Grant’s Farm for 50 years maintaining the grounds.

I have owned the business for 35 years. I consult, design, install and maintain many properties in the St. Louis area. Some of my more unusual projects have included a stone grotto and a rooftop garden! Two of my crew are Category Three ornamental tree and turf applicators.”

Services offered include:

  • Full maintenance year-round
  • Lawn care
  • Bed preparation
  • Pruning of trees and shrubs
  • Constructing walks, patios, walls and water gardens
